For the active vacationer there is go-karting, surfing, scuba diving, kite surfing, hang gliding, kayaking into sea caves, sunset cruises on yachts and catamarans, ferries to the islands, hiking, rock climbing, cycling, horse riding… even skiing the inland snow-topped mountains! Golf courses are everywhere, too, of course.
For those who prefer their exploring to be done at a slower pace, take a drive in any direction: there are lakes and waterfalls, wetlands, rice paddies with quaint canals, bird watching, museums, the incredible Valencia zoo and its cultural, science and marine museums that have dominated recent architecture magazines; there are castles and high mountain passes freckled with tiny villages; the amazing monastery of Guadalest with its preserved village and craft shops is just an hour’s drive away; Benidorm with its famed sights and sounds (like the Terra Natura safari zoo, Aqua Natura water park, Terra Mitica ancient civilisations theme park, the Balcón del Mediterráneo beauty spot … and so much more to do and see! Take a look at the two videos at the end of this page… especially the second one, mainly Valencia – wait for the incredible famous fallas fiesta towards the end!
